Oracle Product Manager in ZAPOPAN, Mexico

Job Description

As a leader in the Oracle Database team, you will create opportunities and drive strategies within higher learning institutions and student programs to engage and acquire new developers to build on Oracle Database, including driving developer adoption and advocacy of Oracle Database worldwide. You will collaborate and partner with higher level learning institutions, product teams and executives with differing visions to reach consensus and alignment of approach. You will identify strategic partnerships and investments to amplify our reach to application developers and full stack engineers, cross-pollinate with existing external communities, and discover new channels to reach up-and-coming developers. You will execute on those strategic programs to acquire young and student developers.

Requirements

Create and drive developer acquisition strategy in learning institutions, and drive the execution of those programs to increase developer adoption, engagement, and advocacy of Oracle Database worldwide

  • Create new channels to acquire and engage developers worldwide

  • Engage with newly certified developers to onboard them into developer communities and enable continuous learning, community contribution and innovation

  • Identify strategic partnerships and investments to extend the developer learning experience, cross-pollinate existing communities and incubate innovative projects

  • Establish collaboration paths with internal and external groups, and work closely with international teams to develop an effective global approach and outcome driven activities

  • Own developer-focused university curricula and content by identifying student training requirements through engagement with universities and vocational Schools through collaboration

  • Drive hackathons at learning institutions worldwide

  • Special projects, as required

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of experience developing and implementing programs in learning institutions

  • Strong bias for action

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing strategic documentation and proposals

  • Excellent collaboration, cross-channel and partnership building

  • 10+ years of data-centric decision making

  • 10+ years of technical program or product management experience

  • 10+ years of experience with strategic planning and execution

  • 10+ years of experience working in a global organizational structures

  • 10+ years of experience with building products for developers

Preferred qualifications

  • Technical background, especially experience with databases and writing code is strongly preferred

  • Experience with developer advocacy, community building and technical documentation preferred

  • Experience with open source languages and frameworks preferred

  • Proficiency with Agile/Scrum and software development lifecycle preferred

  • Proficiency with JIRA/Confluence preferred

Responsibilities

As a member of the product development division, you will define product specifications and or strategy. Gather and analyze information to define product specifications and review design specifications. Communicate product strategy and functionality. Initiate and foster relationships with other groups. Review product documentation and collateral. Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
