Southwire Job Description

The primary function or overall purpose of this position.

• The MOL Product Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of engineering design documentation for specific product lines within the manufacturing site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Engineering:

o Develop detailed mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams and engineering specifications for legacy products not properly documented.

o Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks or AutoCAD) and other engineering tools to create 2D and 3D drawings, schematics, and prototypes.

o Create, execute, track, and complete Engineering Changes (Engineering Change Requests ECRs, Engineering Change Orders ECOs, and Engineering Change Notifications ECNs) in accordance with established procedures.

• Document Management:

o Oversee and maintain all engineering design documents related to assigned product lines, ensuring they are up-to-date, accurate, and comply with industry standards and regulations.

o Organize, catalog, and manage the document repository, employing version control and revision tracking systems to ensure traceability and accessibility.

• Collaboration and Communication:

o Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including design engineers, manufacturing personnel, quality assurance, sourcing and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and accuracy of documentation.

o Communicate changes, updates, and revisions effectively across teams, ensuring comprehension and implementation of new specifications or modifications.

• Quality Assurance:

o Conduct regular reviews and audits of engineering design documentation to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or areas for improvement.

o Implement corrective actions and quality control measures to enhance accuracy and reliability of documentation.

o Troubleshoot and resolve engineering challenges and issues that may arise during the manufacturing process, working collaboratively to find innovative solutions.

• Process Improvement:

o Identify opportunities to streamline documentation processes, introducing efficiencies while maintaining compliance with standards and regulations.

o Work on continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the documentation maintenance workflow and overall productivity.

• Regulatory Compliance:

o Ensure that all documentation adheres to relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.

• Cost Out and VA/VE:

o Work on VA/VE projects to remove cost from product designs.

o Collaborate with cross-functional teams in identifying cost savings opportunities and execute them.

• Training and Support:

o Provide training and support to team members on document management systems and best practices, ensuring a consistent understanding of documentation protocols.
