Southwire Job Description

The primary function or overall purpose of this position.

• The Customer Order Engineer (Electrical Product Engineer) plays a vital role in the design and development of custom electrical products tailored to the customers' specific needs. This role will work closely with the sales, engineering, and production teams to create detailed electrical designs, generate accurate quotes and Bills of Materials (BOMs), and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Electrical Design:

o Work closely with the sales team and customers to understand their unique requirements and specifications.

o Develop detailed electrical designs, including schematics, layouts, and component selection, to meet project objectives.

o Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.

o Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate electrical designs seamlessly into overall product designs.

• Quotation and Costing:

o Create accurate and competitive quotes for custom-engineered electrical products, taking into account material costs, labor, overhead, and other relevant expenses.

o Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to obtain pricing for electrical components.

o Review and refine quotes to optimize cost-effectiveness while meeting customer expectations.

o Calculate labor and manufacturing costs.

o Consider project timelines and potential risks when creating quotes.

• Bills of Materials (BOMs):

o Generate detailed and costed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical products, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

o Maintain BOMs in the company's ERP system, including part creation, updates, and revisions.

o Work closely with the production team to resolve any BOM-related issues and discrepancies.

• Technical Support:

o Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries and providing technical expertise throughout project development.

o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve electrical design issues during production.
