[Responsibilities:]{.underline}
Responsible for planning, organizing, assigning, directing and coordinating the overall operations of the wastewater collection systems and pumping stations. Ensure compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Eliminations System (NPDES) permitting as it applies to the collection system; report compliance and performance issues. Participate and conduct inspections and determine, in conjunction with the Sanitary Engineer, priorities for maintenance; establish maintenance procedures and preventative maintenance schedule for machinery and equipment; maintain records of maintenance, including progress of repair projects and needed repairs; investigate causes and evaluate inoperable equipment; provide technical assistance and recommend specifications for new and replacement equipment for purchase; ensure water and sewer lines are properly installed and maintained. Ensure proper performance of all department generators for maintaining the continuous transportation of wastewater from pumping stations and at wastewater treatment plants; inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair similar equipment. Incumbent will carry out supervisory responsibilities for multiple units in accordance with County policies and applicable laws. Participate in the development of the department's annual budget; administer approved budget; monitor expenses. Subject to 24-hour call-back/stand by as assigned to perform emergency maintenance and repairs.
[Qualifications:]{.underline}
High School Diploma or G.E.D., and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in wastewater treatment and maintenance of treatment systems or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; advance courses in mechanical, electrical and technical engineering preferred. Ohio EPA Class III Wastewater Operator Certification. Possession of a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Supervisory experience in a Union environment.
