Laboratory Support Technician - Transfusion Services - PRN Days

Location: York Hospital, York, PA

Schedule: PRN/Per Diem

PRN, As needed

Primarily Dayshift with rotating Weekends

General Summary

Performs a variety of general support duties in the Blood Bank specimen processing and blood product dispense area.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.

• Performs blood product dispense procedure with clinical staff for transfusion.

• Receives specimens into the laboratory, process specimens, deliver specimens to testing locations, store specimens for future analysis and dispose of specimens.

• Performs a variety of duties at progressively greater skill levels under varying degrees of supervision, records results.

• May receive supplies, equipment, reports and specimens.

• Enters or retrieves data from established computer files.

• Provides complete and accurate instructions to customers of the laboratory.

• May review physician orders and consents for supporting documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

• High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

• Less than 1 year Relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Good keyboarding & communications skills.
