Job Overview of Certified Medical Assistant The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting Providers and nurses in providing trauma-informed care to youth enrolled in Andrus Residential Treatment Program. The Medical Assistant performs lab/phlebotomy work and monitors vital signs by performing the following standard procedures: taking blood pressure, body temperature, listening to lungs, checking their heart rate, etc. Essential Duties of Certified Medical Assistant: Other Key duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Collects and prepares Laboratory specimens. Medication Administration with AMAP certification. Checks and ensures accuracy of the Medication Administration Record (MAR). Records and updates medical histories and contact information in patient EMR. Schedules all initial and follow up appointments for the medical clinic and dental van. Prepares medical information and necessary medication for all the appointments. Communicates information around appointments and follow-up with Residential/Treatment team. Documents and follows-up on all hospital discharge instructions and updates parents, guardians, DSS and other providers. Ensures that all medical and dental appointments are documented accordingly in the EMR system and follows up on all referrals. Uploads and e-file all MARs, Photos and Forms. Updates the ER packages monthly, and as needed. Checks Inventory of office/medical supplies and OTC medications and the expiration dates. Compiles an order list for supplies and OTC medication. Supports overall strategic plan of the organization. Ability to adhere to our organizations core values and commitments. Essential Qualifications of Certified medical Assistant: Key qualifications include: Minimum of an Associates degree in related field or a High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of related experience required. Minimum of 1 year experience working with youth in a clinical setting. NCMA Certification. Drivers License in good standing preferred. Certified in Phlebotomy preferred. Strong verbal and written skills. Excellent customer service skills and emotional intelligence. A high level of professionalism. Good computer skills. AMAP certification preferred. Ability to access and utilize ADP app on smartphone or other device for access to agency programs. Physical/Travel Requirements: Candidates who are successfully hired, must participate in our Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training which concludes with a written and verbal test, and you will be evaluated on conducting a proper physical restraint. Must possess ability to sit, stand, walk, run, climb stairs, and lifts weights of up to 30lbs. Have physical capacity to restrain or assist in the restraint of a child.
