Richmond Community Services Assistant Residence Manager in Yonkers, New York

The Assistant Residence Manager is responsible for assisting supervisors on the residential floors during peak hours, provide staff training, oversight of data systems, payroll and scheduling. The Assistant Residence Manager ensures that operations of the residence support a high quality of life for those individuals who live there and that each individual’s person-centered needs (including but not limited to: physical, medical, emotional, social, familial, safety, and communication needs) are supported within the group home/residential setting. The Assistant Residence Manager supervises and provides direction to the staff and Supervisors as needed.

The Assistant Residence Manager acts as a liaison with families and the community, has detailed knowledge of the individuals supported, fosters Richmond’s Mission and Vision, maintains the fiscal integrity of the residence and ensures compliance with organizational, procedural and quality standards. The Assistant Residence Manager works cooperatively with all RCS departments to ensure quality of life and continuity of care for the individuals served.

The Assistant Residence Manager demonstrates knowledge of Richmond’s quality mission, vision, and values. In addition, this position actively participates in quality improvement projects (i.e. communicating issues, offering suggestions) to ensure ongoing excellence of services, programs and staff to maximize the quality of life for individuals supported by RCS.

Essential Duties

  1. Ensures compliance with Richmond and OPWDD regulations as well as with other regulatory agencies (e.g. OSHA, Willowbrook Injunction, etc.).

  2. Understands and embraces the guiding principles endorsed by Richmond as essential to the support of individuals with intellectual disabilities and is able to convey these principles to staff (e.g. Person-Centered Planning, family-centered values, partnering with families, and self-determination.)

  3. Participates in Development, Implementation and oversight, of Individual Comprehensive Functional Assessments (CFA), goals and services, using the PCP approach in cooperation with the staff, families and QIDP.

  4. Responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the individuals’ medical care are met. Including, but not limited to, scheduling of appointments, following up on medical orders, ensuring prescriptions are filled and ready to be given.

  5. Works with Rehab and nursing staff to ensure coordination of all medical care for individuals and that all treatment is documented as required. Monitors staff to ensure that specific medical services, diet and feeding protocols are followed.

  6. Ensures supervisors and direct support professionals and other clinical staff receive appropriate training on all individual plans.

  7. Ensures that all individuals’ goals and services are implemented and documented as required; ensuring that relevant philosophies embraced by Richmond are fully integrated into individuals’ learning objectives and activities as well as in the delivery of services.

  8. Organizes community inclusion and recreation activities with Recreation Coordinator and DSP staff and ensures that the plans are implemented as required.

  9. Ensures that individual case records are current, organized and maintained in a confidential manner in accordance with agency policies and procedures and by the regulations governing the provision/operation of residential services.

  10. Interviews, hires, orients, trains, supervises, and evaluates supervisory and direct support professionals who provide support to residents. Provides staff with on-going direction and feedback regarding performance. Counsels staff and administers discipline as needed, in accordance with Richmond policies

  11. Facilitates adequate coverage of direct support staff. Integrates efforts to secure coverage with the scheduling done by the Scheduler.

  12. Monitors the physical environments of the group home to ensure compliance with health, safety and cleanliness standards.

  13. Manages all financial aspects of residential operations including: timely submission and review of accurate payroll, additional hours worked, e-time reports and payroll adjustment submission; appropriate household expenditures; implementation and oversight of petty cash, SSI funds tracking systems and individual personal expenditures.

  14. Ensures appropriate and timely exchange of information between the staff, parents/guardians, other Richmond departments and community resource people.

  15. May be assigned other reasonably related tasks and duties.

• Computer experience including keyboarding skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point), and Internet navigation required.

• Must have a keen knowledge of the clinical, recreational, social, emotional, educational, physical, independent living and other needs of each resident, as indicated in the Individual Service Plan (ISP), and all supplemental clinical reports, in order to integrate all relevant information into a meaningful Residential Habilitation Plan (RHP).

Qualifications & Minimum Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years relevant supervisory experience and demonstrated competence in independently managing/supervising a group home.

• At least 5 years of relevant experience providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

• Experience with person-centered planning approaches and positive behavioral supports preferred.

• Strong commitment to RCS mission and values and to working with individuals with IDD and their families.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Must successfully complete training in medication administration, Cardio-Pulmonary-Resuscitation (CPR), and Strategies for Crisis Intervention & Prevention (SCIP).

• Valid New York State driver’s license and maintenance of Richmond Driver Authorization required. Access to a vehicle to transport self between Agency sites required.
