Coiler Operator
Position responsibilities:
Operates equipment to wind steel tubing into coils as tubing emerges from rolling mill.
Moves controls to synchronize coiling machine speed and action of the machine guides, rolls, etc., with feed tables and conveyors.
Examines tubing for surface imperfections, defects, and specified coating.
Verifies specified O.D. and wall of tubing using measuring devices such as micrometers.
Cuts off sampling pieces and performs specified destructive tests to verify weld quality.
Records measurements and readings in ERP.
Moves and transfers coils onto conveyor for pressure testing, dipping and banding. Cuts out defective and sub quality tubing from the coil.
Make coiler roll changes and adjustments using various hand tools.
Maintain dipping solutions.
Record weights and footage of each coil as required.
Prepare and tag each coil for proper identification.
Operate and maintain copper and/or Galfan line.
Maintain cleanliness around work area and machine.
