Job Category: Manufacturing/Operations Job Family: Warehouse/Material Handling Job Description: The Materials Manager will provide leadership and direction to a warehouse production team. The manager continuously improves cost, quality, and service by developing teamwork, process understanding, and ownership. The manager ensures there is appropriate capacity and capability to meet customer requirements, conducting long and short-range capacity studies to determine requirements for new equipment and facilities. By partnering with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Information System, Operations Systems, and Distribution, the manager optimizes the entire supply chain. What youll do: Develop Schreiber Foods Culture train, coach, evaluate and reinforce operational excellence principles with partners. Manage the relationship with a third-party logistics company (3PL) where all finished goods and raw materials are stored. Innovate, lead, and maintain control of distribution initiatives related to cost, quality, service, and safety. Articulate, develop, and implement a comprehensive distribution strategy and related systems which best support the entire organization. Own and execute forklift program for Grand Rapids locations. Assure implementation of regulatory (safety, environmental and food safety) programs. Standardize major distribution processes and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Lead applicable procedural changes within areas of Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Operations to constantly improve the operation and communication between departments. Together with the leadership team, ensure compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans in addition to customer requirements. Interpret and communicate customer requirements to plant production and support groups. Establish and audit Process Control Plan (PCP), Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to define and monitor processes, ensuring customer requirements are met. Review incidents during which the work rules and standards are not met and determine appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures. What you need to succeed: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management, Business Management, Finance, or related field required. 3 years of experience in Distribution, Operations or Supply Chain Management in a leadership role preferred. Demonstrated success leading teams of 20 partners (employees) or more. Experience managing temporary/supplemental labor is a bonus. Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment. Demonstrated ability to provide current, direct, complete, and actionable feedback to others, identifying issues and taking appropriate action related to training and performance. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adaptability to support evening shifts as needed on an ongoing basis. Excellent organizational skills, establishing priorities, multitasking, and meeting deadlines. Results-driven, bottom-line oriented drive to exceed goals and motivate self and others to achieve positive outcomes. Demonstrate functional and technical knowledge, ability to learn new skills quickly, and achieve a high level of accomplishment. In-depth technical knowledge of distribution processes, operations, supply chain, customer service, and project management. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Power BI along with field-specific software.
