Our 12-week paid internship program offers firsthand experience and meaningful projects that have an impact on our business. Throughout the program, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals receiving mentorship, professional development and networking opportunities that will expose you to various aspects of our industry.
Build Connections By: Working alongside professionals in a wide variety of departments with internships available in the following areas: Communications & Legal Risk IT Legal, Risk, Communications Finance Human Resources Marketing & Merchandising Supply Chain Attending unique networking opportunities in and outside of the office. Working alongside a mentor who is a proven leader in the organization Shadowing jobs across the organization to explore your career path potential Participating in Gordon Food Services' community and stewardship efforts. Developing personal and professional skills through workshops about communication, LinkedIn, corporate presence, and more.
Build a Career: Find your place in our Finance department with internships available in Operational Finance, Internal Audit, Accounting, and Tax. In addition to the impactful work you will complete within your department, you will: Assist with projects tied to Gordon Food Service's strategic initiatives. Gain knowledge of the business, workplace etiquette, and business communication. Work 1 on 1 with a Talent Acquisition Specialist to revamp your resume. Work on cross functional teams to present impactful business solutions to senior leadership.
Our Operational Finance team is divided into profit and cost teams, the profit team focuses on sales and profit margin, while the cost team focuses on expenses and operational processes. Prior interns worked with business intelligence tools to create a snapshot of business unit performances, track inventory, and identify benchmark metrics to predict future performances. The Operational finance team works closely with all areas of our business.
Our Corporate Accounting team executes the monthly financial close process, maintains the general ledger, reconciles balance sheets, and prepares financial statements. Prior interns posted journal entries, identified discrepancies, and ensured SAP and invoices are aligned as the company is currently transitioning to SAP.
Our Tax team administers, calculates, accounts for, and files all taxes for the US and Canada and is responsible for responding to internal and external tax inquiries. Prior interns assisted with preparing tax returns and related calculations, gathering data for audits, and reviewing taxability for new products.
Our Internal Audit team performs risk mitigation, process improvement, assurance consulting, and internal controls testing for all North American operations. Prior interns led learning initiatives for the recently implemented Knime Program and analyzed data to assist with completing an audit.
