POSITION PURPOSE:
The Carpentry and Finisher role shall perform tasks associated with but not limited to the site preparation, erection, construction, and clean-up of the building of Concrete Drainage Structures and associated Foundations and apparatus at construction sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments associated with the safe building of carpentered structures, poured concrete, and concrete finishing. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris and other waste materials. May assist other craft workers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working in an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme weather and difficult terrains
Lifting and carrying materials such as pipe, moving hoses, decontaminating equipment and materials, flagging, and other strenuous tasks
Inspect, maintain, and operate assigned manual and power tools.
Working knowledge of anchors and braces forms and other structures that you will put in place, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, wedges, and timbers, or other forms of attachments.
Accurately erects forms, framework, scaffolds, hoists, roof supports, or chutes, using hand tools, plumb rule, and level.
Fabricates, assembles, and/or dissembles parts by hand or by woodworking and metalworking machines.
Climbs ladders, concrete formwork, or any other structures necessary to erect formwork and access elevated areas.
Adheres to and performs functions according to company and OSHA safety guidelines.
Moves and lifts heavy objects.
Cuts, shapes, fits, or joins wood or other construction materials.
Uses basic carpentry and concrete fabrication techniques.
Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position.
Performs other duties as determined and required by project need.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:
High Diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid driver license
Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Journeyman Carpenter or Concrete Finisher on construction sites.
Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of how to shoot grade using laser or transit
Knowledge of CMU, RCP, and PVC pipe sizes
Comprehension of using Leica Grade Lasers and Transit to verify/set grades
Knows how to read grade stakes and plans
Can Safely rig CMU and PVC pipe
Understands Trench safety
Ability to work safely and efficiently
Ability to regularly move at least 50-lbs manually
Ability to follow supervisory verbal and written instructions and designated health and safety requirements.
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions or difficult terrain.
Carpentry skills include:
Safely Fasten, erect, and install concrete forms.
Specific to Foundations and Vertical Structures
Measure and mark lines on materials -verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
Able to install block-outs, embedded angles, plates, bolts, and other anchors to formwork.
Understand, interpret, and troubleshoot blueprints, sketches, or building plans and their associated specification books.
Laboring skills include:
Safely Operate a variety of concrete-related hand and power tools.
Willing to clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces, and concrete forms, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials.
Rod busting skills include:
Position and secure steel bars or mesh in concrete forms to reinforce concrete.
Safely operates a variety of fasteners, rod-bending machines, blowtorches, and hand tools.
Finishing skills include:
Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete commercial/industrial slabs
To include Power Trowel and Hand Trowel Experience
Broom Finish knowledge/experience preferred
Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
A typical day for a laborer is spent on a construction site in conditions that can be unpredictable; for example, working conditions may be noisy, cold, hot and dusty.
