As aStrategic Raw Materials Manager you will be primarily responsible of the management and direction of Chlorine, HCL and Propylene (PO), critical raw materials and product streams primarily for the Monomers (CM) and Performance Materials (PM) business divisions of BASF. Scope includes strategic evaluation, negotiation, & maintenance of the North American Chlorine, HCL and PO purchase and supply agreements. Additionally, the position is responsible for the strategic evaluation and alignment of CM’s North American Polyol business, working closely with global StrategicMarketing, Technology, Legal, and both the CM and PM regional business management teams.

As a Strategic Raw Materials Manager, you create chemistry by...

  • Negotiate, implement and actively manage all contracts and agreements with the various suppliers and consumers of Chlorine, HCL and PO. This includes actively managing the Chlorine, HCL and PO sourcing and supply to ensure Asset Effectiveness targets of the Polyols andIsocyanate production facilities are achieved.

  • Manage the daily, weekly and monthly activities and documentation related to volume forecasts, nominations, price calculations, order entry, billing and payment amount validation and approval for all Chlorine, HCL and PO transactions

  • Handle customer inquiries, non-conformance claims (as appointed), audit requirements, quality assurance and keep all account records up to date

  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with site managers, product managers, commercial managers, procurement teams and executives of both external partners and BASF units associated with Chlorine, HCL and PO. As a part of this you will serve as the primary point of contact for BASF’s Product Stewardship group for all matters related to Chlorine, HCL and PO and provide quarterly updates to the Senior Executive team regarding Key Performance Indicators for these products.

  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects and Strategic Evaluations for the NA Monomers business unit in conjunction with global Strategy Group of BASF

  • Participate and represent the Chlorine, HCL and PO product portfolio in regularly occurring meetings related, but not limited to, production planning, S&OP, Strategic and Operational Planning

  • Coordinate the agenda and scheduling of external industry events and meetings between BASF and external partners

If you have...

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of work experience in a product, procurement, marketing/sales management role.

  • 3+ years of experience developing long termstrategic plans, preferrably with experience in materials sourcing.

  • 3+ years of experience in Contracts Management (negotiation, execution, implementing, vendor/supplier management)

  • Have stronginterpersonaland communication skills with ability to work independently.

  • Have strong business and financial acumen.

  • Ability to collaborate in a cross functional / cross divisional manner for achievement.
