We are looking for a Prototype Technician to join our PM team in Wyandotte, MI.

The Performance Materials division is at the forefront of the much-needed sustainability transformation in plastics. We are seeking a professional like you to join our account teams to support our prototype shipments in the Cellasto business unit of BASF. The Prototype Technician provides support to the Application Development Engineering function through all phases of product development and launch.

During your Monday to Friday day shift as a Prototype Technician, you will

  • Coordinate order requirements between Engineering, Production Planning, Shipping and Customer Care

  • Inspect and prepare parts, including component assembly, as needed

  • Prepare package for shipment. Label parts and boxes per customer specifications.

  • Coordinate shipment of parts to customer.

  • Maintain inventory of materials used to hand-build prototype parts.

  • Machine parts using hand tools and heavy-duty machine equipment in accordance with engineering drawing (training provided)

  • Track prototype tool orders from kick-off through receipt and mold line scheduling.

  • Monitor prototype tool and part processing during trial & prototype production runs.

  • Document trial & prototype production run molding and inspection results. Effectively communicate results to Application Development Engineers.

  • Coordinate production of hand-built parts as needed with vendors and/or service providersConduct weekly meetings with Engineer’s to establish priorities, determine weekly plan and communicate status of assignments

If you...

  • Possess a High School diploma or associate degree in a technical field (preferred).

  • Have technical aptitude as demonstrated by experience as a technician in a production, laboratory or engineering setting.

  • Are competent in the following areas: Quality orientation, attention to detail, multiple priorities, self-starter, work management, teamwork.

  • Have strong computer skills: Windows, MS Office and experience with ERP software (SAP) and/or automotive portals is a plus.

  • Have a strong EHS orientation. Emphasis on both personnel and process safety required.
