Director of Human Resources for our Fire and Safety North America Operations

Summary:

The Fire & Safety HR team is focused on delivering high quality and innovative solutions, that accelerate the business strategy, while aligning with Fire & Safety’s vision to be the world’s leading enabler of life saving technology. This is a collaborative, highly strategic environment that is results-driven, agile, and customer-focused.

This role will act as the primary business partner to VP/GM of F&S – NA, NA Group Leadership and will lead the HR team across the NA locations reporting into the Group VP of HR.

Description:

Strategic Alignment and Execution

  • Conduct research and analyze organizational trends to develop and execute strategic plans such as compensation and benefits, performance management, training and development, occupational safety, employee communications, employee experience and employee relations

  • Strategic partner to NA Group Leadership responsible for ensuring functional policy and program alignment with the business’ go to market strategies and strategic initiatives.

  • Represents function and provides appropriate inputs in business group’s key strategic processes: Annual Operating Plan, Strategic Plan and Goal Deployment.

  • Is responsible for developing and executing NA Human Capital Strategy in partnership with Regional and Global leadership.

Organizational Development

  • Oversee HR managers to ensure efficient daily workflows and train the HR department

  • Develops a business leader first, functional leader second mentality within the HR team.

  • Coordinate and manage career development plans, based on performance reviews, 360 reviews, Talent/HR Review, etc.

  • Coordinate and manage training initiatives; annual Talent/HR Review, leadership development, employee skills training and development.

  • Responsible for the development and capabilities of the HR Staff.

  • Coordinate and manage performance management process.

  • Development of VOE (Voice of Employee) metrics and process improvement projects.

Acquisition Due Diligence & Integration

· Support Platform in integration of potential acquisition targets.

  • Ensure talent development process is robust and supports current and future acquisition requirements.

Employee and Labor Relations

  • Responsible for the strategy development, research and business planning of collective bargaining agreement negotiations.

  • Provide guidance to local HR Leaders to address employee issues and grievances.

  • Ensure organizational compliance with labor laws and guidelines including but not limited to DOL, EEOC, NLRB, etc.

Compliance and HR Administration

  • Develop, implement and maintain processes that ensure regulatory and organizational policy compliance.

  • Develop and communicate HR Scorecard to management team, highlighting HR metrics and their impact on the business.

  • Act as the group’s Ethics Officer to coordinate and manage compliance with all applicable regulatory and corporate policy requirements.

Staffing and Recruitment

  • Develop and execute a strategic recruitment plan designed to institutionalize top-grading and the continuous improvement of the business’ talent pool creating a multi-layered bench

  • Deliver a recruitment plan that aligns with business objectives, incorporates traditional and non-traditional recruitment sources and ensures the casting of a “wide net” to attract and introduce qualified diverse candidates to the organization.

  • Manage the recruitment Strategy

  • Develop, execute and manage critical processes regarding the employee life cycle.

Compensation, Benefits and Payroll/HRIS

  • Coordinate and manage compensation plans; prepare and implement annual salary plans, develop and align compensation plans to drive desired employee and business performance.

  • Maintains HRIS, payroll systems, time and attendance systems, and ensures data integrity.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Implement best demonstrated safety practices to mitigate risk, reduce exposure and effectively manage claims.

  • Serve as group’s Safety & Risk Management Officer.

  • Partner with Operations leadership to manage all required and agreed upon safety programs and training

Director of Human Resources handles other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Business, Human Resources or a related field.

  • An advanced degree is desired.

  • 10+ years of experience in Human Resources Generalist roles including past leadership/supervisory assignment(s).

  • Global experience a plus

  • Workday experience a plus

  • Collective bargaining negotiations experience is strongly desired.

  • Experience in audit, acquisition or integration HR processes desired.

  • Experience in a union environment and experience supporting a union workforce is strongly desired.

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, engineering or Lean manufacturing environment is desired.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills are required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

  • Demonstrated ability and experience working in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment is required.

  • Approximately 50% travel is required.
