Operate the control panel for, and take ownership of, one or more pieces of production machinery. This includes communicating information to the production team related to which items are running, and working with front line leadership regarding safety, quality, and throughput for the machine and its team. Verify equipment is properly cleaned and in ready to use condition prior to operation Set up, operate, or tend machines that cut or slice materials. Review work orders, blueprints, travelers, specifications, or job samples to determine components, settings, and adjustments for cutting and slicing machines. Perform a variety of physical tests on materials or products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices, such as rulers, micrometers, or scales. Monitor operation of cutting or slicing machines to detect malfunctions or to determine whether supplies need replenishment. Stack and sort cut material for packaging, further processing, or shipping, according to types and sizes of material. Adjust machine controls to alter position, alignment, speed, or pressure. Remove completed materials or products from cutting or slicing machines, and stack or store them for additional processing. Complete and submit relevant paperwork and reports daily. Report all mechanical issues to front line leadership. Communicate material needs to material handlers. Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset by participating in process improvement efforts and making improvement suggestions. Demonstrate a commitment to 5S by maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Move stock or scrap to and from machines manually, or by using carts, hand trucks, or lift trucks. Select and install machine components, such as cutting blades, according to specifications, using hand tools. Previous experience in a manufacturing operations environment preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and record-keeping skills. Basic math skills for measuring and setting machine parameters. Ability to stand, bend, lift and/or move material for extended periods of time Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs during the course of a shift
