Process Support 2 - Shot Peen Operator - 3rd Shift Job Overview Title: Process Support 2 - Shot Peen Operator Trainee - 3rd Shift Reports to: Value Stream Manager Location: Kent, WA Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly) Schedule: 3rd Shift, Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.; Must be able to train on 1st shift up to 90 days. Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.) Job Summary This is an entry-level position in our Shot Peen department. Employees in this position will learn tasks to process parts specific to Shot Peening and will learn to become a proficient Shot Peen Operator. Operator Trainees may be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. A Shot Peen Operator Trainee may perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications. * FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing. Responsibilities Work closely with experienced Operators, Specialists, and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks. Learn to follow technique and/or help to create new technique card(s), review and interpret customer purchase orders, and instructions from experienced Operators, Specialists, and Department Leads; legibly sign off on work once completed and Operator Self Verification inspection has occurred. General review of paperwork and learn to be efficient in Self Verification inspection of job to ensure all previous chrome plating operations have completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance for any errors or discrepancies. Assist and Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning; use proper tooling and fixtures, when applicable. Learn the pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements. Learn and become familiar with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures. Learn and become familiar with engineering drawing notations. Follow safety precautions to avoid preventable injury to self and other personnel. Learn to develop new product processing and identify areas for improvement. Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications May need to participate in annual Hearing Conservation testing and Eye Exams. Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, goggles or face shields, aprons, boots, gloves, and other PPE based upon requirements in working area. Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others. Must be a self-starter, able to work both independently, as a team, and with customers (both internally and externally). Excellent accuracy with a strong attention to detail. Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position. Ability to learn and use Lean Tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position. Must have a regular and dependable attendance record. Ability to Read/Write/Communicate in English and calculate basic math formulas. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility. Education/Previous Experience Requirements 1-2 years in aerospace production and/or similar manufacturing environment a plus.
