Ford Motor Company Quality Engineering Specialist in Woodhaven, Michigan

In this position...

Apply analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.

What you'll do...

  • Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6 panel, etc.

  • Manage and direct statistical process control activities

  • Support product launches and all aspects of bringing in new products (PPAP, APQP, QOS, etc.)

  • Knowledge of and ability to execute measurement systems analysis & variable data analysis

  • Identify sources of variation within a production environment effectively and efficiently

  • Establish tolerance limits and facilitate appropriate corrective actions

  • Establish and monitor quality target levels for each product

  • Provide input for design and assembly concepts which will yield nominal variations

  • Establish critical characteristics for gauging and measuring data collection methods

  • Determine inspection equipment and facility requirements

  • Support expedited concern resolution with cross functional teams including the Quality Department, Production and Suppliers

  • Review internal/external suppliers for critical characteristics process compatibility

  • Review incoming quality concerns to maintain quality with assigned area; must have experience with initiating containment, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions

With a focus on Dimensional Control:

  • Use company and industry standard processes and tools to plan, design, manage, and utilize gauges for measurement of components and assemblies.

  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance principles.

  • Interpret data from inspection equipment and recommend responses.

  • Ensure gauge calibration; certification; and repeatability and reproducibility.

  • Determine locators and measuring points.

  • Verify tolerance/engineering specifications.

  • Develop dimensional/product/process control plans.

  • Define and conduct machine process capability analyses.

  • Forging Process, Simulation and Die Engineering

You'll have...

  • High School Diploma

  • Experience in manufacturing Quality control

  • Demonstrated experience in accomplishing tasks and objectives

  • Proven problem-solving ability

  • Previous production supervision

  • Microsoft Office knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook)

  • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership in One FORD (leadership) behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills

Even better, you may have...

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a mechanical, quality control or technology field.

  • Previous automotive and quality analysis experience

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified

  • Minitab Experience

  • CMM and QDOS experience

This position is a range of salary grades 6, 7 and 8.
