Position Summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Electrical and Automation Manager to join our Cereal Partners Worldwide site in Bromborough. Cereal Partners UK, a powerful alliance between Nestlé and General Mills and manufacturers many household brands, such as Shreddies, Cheerios and Nesquik.

This role will have responsibility for ensuring competent MES-E&A management and operations. You will need to provide support for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Electricity and Automation (E&A) professional and technical activities and during participation in CAPEX projects; doing so in line with corporate guidelines, enforcing that all MES-E&A activities enhance business objectives, product quality and plant operation/performance while ensuring that people health and safety, product safety, and environment are never compromised.

This role holds the position of Senior Electrical Duty Holder and Machinery Duty Holder and instrument calibration Duty Holder and ensure all Duty Holders are sufficiently appointed, mentored, and fully supported.

A day in the life of…an Electrical and Automation Manager

The main purpose of this role ensuring competent MES-E&A management and operations. You will do this by building Engineering capability across the site and your teams and ensuring that personnel managing, operating and maintaining MES-E&A equipment and infrastructure are competent to do so.

Main scope of works for the successful candidate in this role:

  • Supervision of Electrical Contractors & Control Panel Suppliers – this will include but will not be limited to; Day to day liaison with contractors engineering and supervisory staff, police Health and Safety requirements including CDM, supervise works to ensure specification compliance, control progress in line with project program as well as supervise the device testing programme.

  • Managing Electrical Compliance

  • Ensure all maintenance requirements are executed in line with NUK technical instructions (HV & LV)

  • Ensure all persons working on electrical network are competent and authorised.

  • Ensure that all electrical training is delivered according to NUK requirements (aligned with UK Electrical Safety law)

  • Be the champion of electrical safety on site and coach good working practices.

  • Manage electrical permit to work system and sanctions for live functional checking.

  • Managing Project Requirements

  • Determine and document project electrical requirements

  • Track and update MS project programme

  • Ensure compliance with electrical designs

  • Arrange for and progress the production of electrical drawings

  • Ensure specifications compliance

HV Network

  • Understanding of HV Switching; switching schedules; earthing requirements; permits etc

  • Understanding of HV maintenance requirements.

LV Network

  • Electrical load demand calculations (Final documentation only)

  • Primary and secondary distribution design (Final documentation only)

  • Switch room electrical design (Final documentation only)

  • Heat loss calculations (Final documentation only)

  • Cable design – (Work in Progress)

  • Cable schedule preparation – (Work in Progress)

  • Cable containment route design – (Work in Progress)

  • Mass load (Weight) calculations – (Work in Progress)

  • Cable termination schedule preparation – (Work in Progress)

  • Electrical schematics design / approval – (Work in Progress)

Line Management of Automation and MES Engineers

  • Understanding of PLC & SCADA Systems (Rockwell / Aveva (Wonderware)

  • Understanding of MES system

  • Coaching & People Development

  • Computer Literacy – Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential but also Amtech pro Design, Amtech Protect and Autocad 2012 (Instruction to CAD draftsperson) will be a key part of the role.

What will make you successful?

We are looking for an experienced management professional supported by a strong technical background. If you are qualified to a degree level, this would be advantageous.

• Minimum 3 years Electrical Engineer with Automation and/or MES engineer experience.

• Personnel Supervision (of technical teams, contractors or other 3rd parties)

• Experience in managing internal and external stakeholders, ability to communicate technical topics to a wide audience and align strategy.

• Participation in the development of engineering projects as part of a multidisciplinary team (preferably including different products and technologies in Electrical and Automation areas)

• Participation in the start-up of technical equipment(s) and/or production line(s)

• Self-Management following defined KPIs/Objectives, and proactively tracking them

• NCE and TPM methodologies

• Experience required in Electricity, Process Control, Loop Tuning, Instrumentation and PLC/HMI programming

• Food processing plants and technologies, including food safety, hygienic engineering and Nestlé proprietary technology, if any

• Specific AMM tools in their area of expertise

• SH&E and QM Policies (among others NGHE, NEMS, NEST, ISO 14001/22000, OHSAS 18000).

• Process IT knowledge including understanding of Industrial IT infrastructure
