This opportunity is for a part-time RN for our Outpatient Services department. The position offers full benefits and a convenient schedule of Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Our 164-bed inpatient services for adolescents through senior adulthood offers comprehensive and individual assessments, psychiatric evaluation and medication stabilization, daily group therapy and personalized aftercare planning. We also offer a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program to ensure the continuum of care for our patients. Old Vineyard is accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.     What does the Outpatient Services Nurse do at Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services?

    The Nurse for Outpatient Services is responsible for the delivery of quality nursing care for all patients enrolled in Outpatient Services programs (PHP/IOP/AIOP/SAIOP). The Nurse completes clinical nursing assessments, implements all physician orders including lab draws and waived testing, medication pre-authorizations, Genesight testing, calls in scripts, orders/reviews labs, completes treatment paperwork, completes UA’s and vitals, and provides therapeutic treatment of patients participating in program. The Nurse will also keep and maintain electronic and paper-based data on referrals and incoming patients, as well as outcomes regarding referral responses. The Nurse will attend clinical staffing, staff meetings, and assist in discharge planning for patients. This position is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who is highly organized and able to perform tasks independently while also seeking a part-time, family-friendly schedule.

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female adolescents and adults, as well as dually diagnosed adults. In absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization’s orientation and training program.

    Required Education :

    Graduate of accredited school of nursing.

    Required Experience :

    One year inpatient or outpatient psychiatric experience with adults preferred.

    Required Licensure/Certification :

    Current NC State Licensed Nurse (or compact state)

    AHA CPR & First Aid

    Required Skills :

    Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients. Ability to accurately administer medications and treatments. Ability to monitor and record response and side-effects to medications and treatments. Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures. Ability to assist with education of patients and families in medication and care management. Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.

    Physical Requirements:

    Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform CPI physical, verbal and non-verbal techniques. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
