Job Description

General Purpose:

The Sr. Quality Assurance Specialist is a high-level support position that is an administrative resource to the Plant Quality Assurance department. This includes assistance in the development, monitoring and maintenance of the programs and records of the Food Safety & Quality Management System (FSQMS).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete batch record review of various products and data entry into management software system

  • Disposition products (assign/change status) in management software systems as assigned

  • Review, organize, and file production records

  • Perform/assist with root cause analysis

  • Maintain company and customer required spreadsheets, records, and reports and communicate with customers as needed

  • Prepare and organize records as requested for internal and external audits

  • Obtain and/or issue certificates of analysis as needed

  • Support and assist in the writing, reviewing, updating, and training of all documentation elements of the Quality Management System and related software

  • Adhere to all DFA Quality and Safety policies and procedures and report any nonconformities

  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

  • Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment

  • Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • 3 years of quality systems, food safety, or production in a food manufacturing environment

  • Ability to obtain SQF, HACCP and PCQI certifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge including Microsoft Office products and SAP

  • Ability to prepare technical reports and procedures

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines

  • Advanced attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Team oriented and able to work cross functionally

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
