The Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation IT Change Management Specialist in Winnipeg, Manitoba

As the IT Change Management Specialist you are responsible for managing the continuous execution and enforcement of IT Change Management policies and processes. The position works with the internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure that standardized methods and procedures are employed to execute efficient handling of all technology and business requirement changes in order to minimize the impact of change related incidents.

  • Participate in the maintenance of the Corporate Release Calendar, facilities quarterly meetings with calendar stewards, and works with various teams to identify and resolve collisions

  • Act as calendar steward for IT Service Management, IT Support and Operations, Vendor Management, and the Information Security Office.

  • Develop and administer continuous improvement plans for IT Change Management and provide subject matter expertise and guidance to IT Management and staff.

  • Participate in the definition and maintenance of the Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB), verifying the quality and accuracy of configuration items (CIs) as they pertain to the Change process.

  • Responsible for the quality assurance of the change process, including reviewing and ensuring adherence to industry best practices and MPI policies and procedures.

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline.

  • Five - seven years of experience in the IT industry, including five years progressive experience using ITIL/ITSM functions, with a focus on managing IT changes in complex environment.

  • Certificate in current version of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations, with an emphasis on IT change management, or willingness to complete the certificate within twelve months.

  • Experience in project management or in a lead capacity an asset.

  • Working knowledge with various technology platforms (ex. BMC Remedy, BMC Discovery, SmartReporting, Config Management system (CMS)).

  • Working knowledge of the following processes:

  • Release and Deployment Management

  • Asset and Configuration Management

  • Incident and Problem Management

  • Organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with senior management and external service providers.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with an understanding of technical concepts.
