PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
This position is accountable for the design and operational effectiveness of the internal control environment to ensure accurate and timely rate publications into the CPKC rating systems and resulting invoice generation. Through associated analytics of the CPKC rating systems this position audits and drives continuous improvement through root cause investigation and resolution to support the fluidity of revenue as a result of the publication and rating process. This position will support management through the development and distribution of departmental metrics while also supporting team members through accurate and timely rate publications.
This position is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba or Kansas City, Missouri.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Responsible for accurate and timely entry of contract and tariff rates into CPKC systems (US/MX/CAN) to minimize un-invoiced revenue through designed controls
Ensures freight revenues and miscellaneous surcharges comply with commercial contracts via publications activity and control adherence
Designs, implements and maintains controls to identify and minimize financial risks from the Agreements and Publications team across the CPKC network
Compiles and reports control results for quality service and operational effectiveness, recommending process improvements
Provides training and technical guidance
Monitors departmental inboxes for timely handling of items and ensures proper entry and monitoring of rebates
Triages, reports, and resolves unrated waybills in coordination with other departments
Works with NSC Disputes & Interline Settlements to identify continuous improvement opportunities
Performs specialized system tasks, including Fuel Surcharge Updates, Rebates, SOX Compliance audits, and application testing
Acts as a subject matter expert on network service initiatives and handles other related tasks as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, preferably in a relevant field
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, ideally in Audit or Internal Controls
Knowledge of billing, rating, invoicing, accounting, and accounts receivable practices
Experience in transportation or railroad transportation is beneficial
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under varying workloads
Effective time management skills
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Proficiency in Excel; SAP experience is a plus
Fluency in English required; Spanish or French is an asset

Management Conductor Program:
