Shenandoah University Senior Box Office Associate in Winchester, Virginia

Shenandoah University’s Box Office is accepting applications for a Senior Box Office Associate. This is a part-time/seasonal position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.

The Senior Box Office Associate works under the direct supervision of the Box Office Manager, and is a team member of Shenandoah Conservatory’s Performance Operations staff. This flexible part-time position assists patrons with ticket purchases during the daily operations of the Shenandoah Conservatory Box Office and during evening and weekend performances, as needed. The Senior Box Office Associate exercises discretion and independent judgment in resolving problems and ticketing issues to the satisfaction of the customer. As a senior level associate, they provide leadership and oversight during performance shifts when the Box Office Manager is not present. During the peak academic season (September - May), this position is expected to work approximately 10-15 hours per week depending on the performance schedule, with the additional option of working during our busy Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre season nights and weekends are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Helps to ensure that all patrons receive good customer service and have a positive experience when purchasing tickets by using customer service techniques, successfully operating the company’s box office software, complying with all reasonable customer requests, and using discretion and independent judgment in solving problems quickly and to the satisfaction of the customer.

  • Participates in box office operations including subscription processing, group, and single ticket sales, window/in-person sales, answering phones, printing and mailing tickets, processing returns/donations and complimentary ticket requests, and working in the box office for performances.

  • Along with other box office staff, assists with revenue generation projects, up-selling, and cross-selling.

  • Responds to patron emails in a timely and professional manner.

  • Assist the Box Office Manager in administrative duties, such as reconciling ticket sales and donations; timely processing and accurate posting of all receipts and deposits, and Tessitura patron database management

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Requirements:

  • Strong computer skills, specifically Google Workspace, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Customer service or retail experience.

  • Excellent phone manners.

  • Must be detail-oriented.

  • Able to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, and weekends.

  • Experience with Tessitura or comparable sales or CRM software is a bonus but not required.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Stand for several hours.

  • Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 30 pounds.
