8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.
Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Join a fast-growing company for a hands-on summer experience as an Engineering Intern! This opportunity allows engineering undergraduates to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world manufacturing environment, working with state-of-the-art pasta production and packaging equipment. Gain invaluable practical experience and contribute to meaningful projects in a dynamic setting. Job Responsibilities: Assist with design work, research, information gathering, and feasibility/economic studies. Support the development of project documentation, including justifications, engineering designs, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules. Contribute to drafting Capital Expenditure Requests for capital projects. Create new reports and maintain existing departmental reports, including KPIs, cost analyses, and ratios. Help develop and update P&ID drawings. Optimize CMMS usage and preventive maintenance (PM) programs to enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and management teams to ensure successful project completion. Learn and apply good manufacturing and food safety practices. Perform other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications: Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Bachelor's degree in process (or equivalent) in Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering, Industrial Engineering Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering (or related field) Even better if you have any of these: Experience with AutoCAD software and/or SolidWorks Previous experience in an Engineering Internship role Familiarity with Tableau Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma Physical Job Requirements: Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for 6+ hours per day Must be able to lift-up to 34 pounds 6+ hours per day Must be able to push, pull, grasp and use fine motor skills for 6+ hours per day Must be able to make fine distinctions in sound, and express ideas by spoken and written word Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel and stoop for 3+ hours per day Must be able to reach above shoulders for 3+ hours per day Must be able to climb on and off a ladder for 3+ hours per day Must be able to work in a dusty environment for 3+ hours per day
