Shenandoah University Assistant Professor/ Fieldwork Coordinator in Winchester, Virginia

Shenandoah University’s School of Health Professions is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor and Fieldwork coordinator in the Division of Counselor Education. This is a full-time, benefited position that will work out of our Winchester, VA campus.

The mission of the Shenandoah University Division of Counselor Education is to educate ethical, compassionate counselors who practice cultural humility. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling Program at Shenandoah University aims to train counselors and school counselors to be social justice-oriented and work with underserved populations.

This position is a 12-month core faculty position with additional fieldwork coordinator responsibilities. The CMHC and School Counseling Program at SU are new, and this position will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining affiliations with public and private accredited schools, community agencies, prisons/jails, substance abuse facilities, etc. This position also will be responsible for advising students through the requirements of practicum and fieldwork, managing relevant fieldwork paperwork, and managing clinical sites. In addition to teaching, core faculty members are expected to engage in the development and assessment of programs, contributors to division handbooks and documentation, building community connections, active research, university duties, and university and professional service.

Required Skills

Education:

a. Requirements

  • Ph.D in Counselor Education and Supervision or grandfathered in

  • License or license eligible in Virginia (LPC or School Counseling)

b. Preferred

  • Approved Clinical Supervisor certification

  • Evidence of successful teaching experience

  • Evidence of successful supervision experience

  • Evidence of a research agenda
