Raytheon Technologies Sr Project Engineer - Ground Vehicle Applications in Wilson, North Carolina

The engineer position is a critical position for the ground vehicle business by serving as a customer facing engineer whose role is the systems integrator for Ground Vehicle Automatic Fire Extinguishing Systems (GV AFES) on customer platforms. In addition to being the technical POC, this role relies heavily on project management activities to ensure requirement, financial and schedule compliance for program execution. The ideal candidate will be a degreed mid-career engineer (preferably electrical engineering) with with prior experience on electro-mechanical systems including strong project management skills for requirements, financial and schedule compliance.

This role will be based in Wilson, NC. Comprehensive relocation assistance is available.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work within a team of multi-disciplinary engineers to complete projects on schedule within budget across multiple customers customer.

  • Develop and manage schedule and labor/effort estimates for small, medium and large programs across ground vehicle portfolio

  • Understand, capture, and document customer and user requirements and translate them to technical solutions.

  • Capture program risks and identify mitigation plans

  • Work with Program VSL to resolve sustaining engineering questions and issues

  • Liaison between ground vehicle engineering and program VSL on technical requirements, schedule and financial risks for Customer funded and Internally funded programs

  • Generate high quality specifications, reports, publications, and support proposals.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Electrical Engineering preferred) and 5 years of relevant experience OR

  • Advance degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Project management experience with schedule & financial responsibilities

  • Knowledge of requirement management practices and toolsets

  • Solid understanding of product lifecycle development process

  • Good technical writing ability

  • Works autonomously with limited supervision. Self motivated.

  • Influences others within the work area through clear and concise explanation of facts, policies and practices.

  • Able to communicate effectively on technical matters

  • Able to work under deadlines to ensure customer requirements are met.

  • Ability to support domestic and international travel

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with development of electro-mechanical systems

  • Familiarity with military vehicle systems

  • Knowledge of AGILE methodology

  • Risk management experience

  • Overall technical aptitude to design & troubleshoot ground vehicle fire / explosion detection and suppression system applications
