Hannahville Indian Community Tribal Juvenile Probation Officer in Wilson, Michigan

Tribal Juvenile Probation Officer- The purpose of this full time position is to provide direct intensive probation services to youth of the Hannahville Indian Community who are at high risk or adjudicated juvenile delinquent or status offenders. The Juvenile Probation Officer is responsible for working with several community departments to design and implement individual case plans for each identified youth.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or related human services field and must complete the Michigan Judicial Institute Certification Training for Juvenile Court staff within two years after date of employment. Must have successful experience working with children, ages 12 to 19 years. Knowledge of the principles and methods concerned with personal and social problem solving; factors concerned in delinquency, neglect and abuse of children, family dynamics and effects of social conditions on family functioning; juvenile justice system and children's services programs; principles, procedures and techniques of child welfare work; computer programs for word processing and document preparation. Ability to apply social casework methods to juvenile services; to relate effectively to the public and individuals on their caseloads; to speak and write effectively; to work independently to get a project completed; to talk with youth about various issues.
