Waters Technical Account Manager - Chemistry Consumables (UK / Midlands) in Wilmslow, United Kingdom

As a Technical Account Manager – Chemistry Consumables, you are an ambassador of Waters and will bring to the market Waters’ products and services. In this role you will be charged with growing strategically important markets including Pharma/Biopharma,Food, Environmental, Clinical, Chemical Analysis, and Academia. To do this you will need to have a clear grasp and understanding of the customers’ business and its growth plans, and take that knowledge and formulate a workflow solution from Waters. Your primary aim should be delivering “customer success”. An ability and willingness to provide hands on technical support would be advantageous, as the role of Workflow Advisor covers the commercial side of territory management and prioritization, sales calls, and prospecting, but also the practical side of demonstrating certain workflows in order to secure business. The goal is clear and there is a great deal of flexibility in how you approach this task. Your role will be designated to either a territory and/or markets and is field based.

  • Addressing new and existing customers in diverse markets (Pharma, Biopharma, Chemical materials, Food, Environmental, Clinical, Academia);

  • Maintaining and developing existing customer and identifying and developing new accounts;

  • Organising, delivering and following up seminars and workshops at customer sites

  • Adhering to Waters and customers relevant Health,Safety and Environment requirements at all times;

  • Formulating and successfully implementing business plans

  • Assist in delivering chemistry consumables demonstrations in coordination with our UK application specialist

  • Collaborating, liaising and providing guidance and support across departments to ensure customer success. You will be working closely with all other groups at Waters (e.g. Instrument Sales, Service and Customer success);

  • Providing customers with high quality technical advice whilst maintaining a focus on maximising the sales potential

  • Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Analytical Chemistry or Biology


  • Recent hands on experience and knowledge of Liquid Chromatography and Sample Preparation techniques

  • Exposure within a HPLC laboratory. Method development preferred

  • Advantageous to have technical and practical solution selling experience, particularly in Chemistry Consumables

  • Advantageous to have experience in Method Development, solving separation problems and ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment


  • Highly passionate individual with charisma, perseverance and determination, plus the ability to work effectively in competitive sales situations;

  • Customer focused with good level of active listening skills;

  • Ability to understand and communicate technical & commercial values;

  • Good interpersonal skills with a positive sense of humor and is able to contributing as part of an integrated sales/service organisation;

  • Good priority setting and organisational skills;

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills

  • Solid team player with high degree of self-motivation


  • A valid driving license and a valid passport will be required;

  • This is a territory-based position requiring travel within your designated territory, and occasional travel internationally for meetings and training.
