Saint Francis Hospital is seeking an experienced Full-time Public Safety Constable to join our team!

This opening is for a night shift position working 1800 to 0600 hours on a 2/3/2 rotation (every other Fri/Sat/Sun off).

The Public Safety Constable is the front line of the Public Safety Team. They work as part of a team and independently in an armed capacity to ensure the safety and security of all staff, patients, and visitors and all property owned or operated by Saint Francis Hospital. The Public Safety Constable reports to the Public Safety Sergeant on duty. This position is responsible for providing the highest quality service that aligns with the core values of Saint Francis and Trinity Health. During times of staff shortage or exigent situations, overtime may be requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • A valid motor vehicle license and a satisfactory driving record are required. Must be able to obtain an Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVO) license within one year of employment.

  • Must maintain weapon certifications in accordance with the Delaware State Police Professional Licensing Section and departmental standards.

  • CPR and AED certification is required within six months of employment.

  • Prior law enforcement experience is preferred. The candidate must be able to meet the requirements of a Constable (State of Delaware) in accordance with Title 24, Chapter 56 of the Delaware Code, within 18 months of hire.

  • Must have a minimum of two years' experience in law enforcement, security, and/or public service (Fire/EMS) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous hospital experience is preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated abilities in crisis management, including willingness and ability to perform alone or as a team member in the management of aggressive or violent behavior.

  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with colleagues, patients, and visitors.

  • The colleagues must obtain, at the colleague's expense, an IAHSS Basic and Advanced Training Certificate or higher within six months of employment and maintain an Advanced Training Certificate, at a minimum, for the duration of employment.
