Role Description and Responsibilities

ETF Platform Innovation and Change (EPIC) is a team within BlackRock's Technology & Operations division. We develop strategy and execute initiatives central to our indexing and firm-wide growth aspirations and priorities. In our day-to-day, the team brings together change professionals and domain specialists to deliver scale and innovation to some of BlackRock’s fastest-growing products.

This Delaware-based role sits in our ETF Services Team (VEST) which is responsible for providing ETF servicing to more than 250 US Domestic Equity and US Fixed Income iShares products representing over $2 Trillion in AUM. Additionally, VEST is responsible for helping evolve our new ETF Servicing Platform (ESP) as we migrate additional product groups and launch increasingly complex products on to the platform.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading cross functional efforts in implementing technical solutions or operational enhancements in support of ESP and the ETF Servicing function. Additionally, you will be expected to learn and execute the team’s core daily workflow as part of the ETF order lifecycle with an eye on process improvement, risk mitigation and automation.

Our key stakeholders and partners include Portfolio Management, Capital Markets, Product Engineering, Aladdin Engineering, Aladdin Product Management, and back-office service providers. There will also be opportunities to put your analytical abilities, problem solving skills and attention to detail to test during the project phases of the engagement.

About You

To be successful in this role you should have solid understanding of one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience using computer technology in applications or systems programming, computer systems development, web development, database administration, or planning of data processing.

  • Strong technology proficiency in one or more of the following areas is highly desired: Aladdin technology suite, data model & data feed interaction, API’s, industry technology (e.g. CNS, Swift, OMGEO), data and reporting toolsets (e.g. ADS/SQL, Microsoft Excel VBA/Macros, Power BI), Python, etc.

  • Capital markets, securities, and financial instruments

  • ETF Operations (e.g. creation/redemption process)

  • Fund Accounting principles

  • Custody framework & operations

  • Trade Operations (e.g. end-to-end understanding of the trade lifecycle including clearing and settlement)

  • Distribution ecosystem and its impacts (e.g. end-to-end process workflow, partner interactions/dependencies, fund accounting aspects, process nuances)

  • General awareness of other BlackRock functional areas including, but not limited to: EII Capital Markets and Product Engineering, Portfolio Management, TA Servicing, Global Investment Operations, Data Operations, etc.

Competencies

  • Ability to gather and analyze facts, define problems, and suggest solutions.

  • Experience using computer technology in applications or systems programming, computer systems development, web development, database administration, or planning of data processing.

  • Scripting or basic development language skills to automate common tasks.

  • Excellence in understanding holistic business requirements and communicating the needs of the team effectively.

  • Organized approach to ensure follow up on outstanding issues and identify appropriate action to be taken.

  • Attention to detail to ensure a high degree of accuracy for all deliverables.

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively articulate solutions to internal and external partners.

  • Ability to multi-task and balance requests without losing sight of overall objectives and deadlines.

  • Exceptional decision-making skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
