Job Title:

Maintenance Technician

Location:

Williamsville NY, may need to float to our Green Acres Preschool in Tonawanda, NY, Maryvale School in Cheektowaga, and our various Residential homes.

Shift:

Full Time- 40 hours weekly

Requirements:

High School diploma or GED w/ (3) yrs. general maintenance experience

Valid NYS Driver’s License

Rate of Pay:

$18.00 per hour

Duties:

Performing a variety of semi-skilled manual work activities in general maintenance & upkeep repair (carpentry, painting, light drywall repair, plastering, mechanical, plumbing & electrical)

    Job Description

Job Title:

Maintenance Technician

Position Summary: Perform a variety of semi-skilled manual work activities in the general maintenance and upkeep repair such as carpentry, painting, light drywall repair, plastering, mechanical, plumbing and electrical in the agency’s properties.

Reporting Relationship: Receives direct supervision from the Property Director or Senior Maintenance Technician or his/her designee who will assign and review work for conformance with standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs and assists with the work of a skilled trade to limited extent, such as carpentry, painting, masonry, plastering, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical.

  • Performs manual labor as required in the ongoing repair of physical structures and grounds, including snow removal and lawn care and landscaping.

  • Cleans heating and/or cooling systems, lubricates equipment, adjusts motors, pumps, and other mechanical equipment.

  • Operates power and hand tools; floor scrubber, and buffing equipment.

  • Responsible for maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Takes remedial action to ensure correction of any and all safety hazards, reports same as appropriate.

  • Monitors preventative maintenance program in the agency’s facilities.

  • Small engine maintenance and repair.

  • Rotating on-call duties.

  • Performs other maintenance and repair work on equipment as required.

  • Good computer skills for our many systems, i.e.. work orders, timesheets, trainings, email, online ordering, etc.

  • When necessary responsible to move or assemble furniture, appliances, and related office furniture.

  • Performs outside maintenance, such as power washing, gutter repair, and cleaning.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

High School diploma or GED and 3 yrs. experience in general maintenance and repairs.

Position requires mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. Skilled trade knowledge in areas such as; carpentry, painting, masonry, plastering and plumbing. Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through.

Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. Excellent time-management and general organization skills required.

  • Human Relations Skills: Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, consumers and business contacts; receive supervision instruction in a positive manner and maintain a professional attitude at all times.Be approachable, enthusiastic, and personable.

  • Equipment Operation:Ability to be exposed to dust, dirt and various odors and chemicals. Ability to work in various weather conditions, shovel snow if necessary, operate snow blowers and lift heavy objects; ability to use basic power and hand tools. The ability to operate office equipment, such as, computer, copier, fax machine, etc.

Good attendance is vital for the efficient and effective operation of quality programming and is an essential job function of this position.
