Join us as a Shipping/Receiving Associate and Utility Operator with responsibilities in proper receipt of materials and product from our suppliers and distribution of our products to customers in a manner that meets or exceeds their expectations. This role includes Utility responsibilities which may include flowing to various parts of the operations where assistance may be needed, including machine helper and machine operator responsibilities. This role depends on employees who are able to adapt quickly to changing operating conditions/needs, work with minimal supervision, communicate effectively with production and be conscious of quality. Leverage your skills by ensuring timely and accurate completion of jobs for shipment, ensuring our footing in the industry.

We offer competitive starting pay with increases after 6-months and 12-months of employment, with good performance. Shift differential for working 2nd and 3rd shifts. Benefits eligibility as of the 31st day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Shipping/Receiving Associate is responsible to properly receive materials and product from our suppliers, distributing within the location in a timely and accurate manner. This position is also responsible for shipping the correct product to the customer in a manner that meets or exceeds their expectations. This role includes Utility responsibilities which may include flowing to various parts of the operations where assistance may be needed, including machine helper and machine operator responsibilities. Those responsibilities may include performing duties as a roll tender or wrapper/bander by assisting machine operators in the production of sheeted skids of paperboard. Effective communication with drivers and internal teams is critical in this position. A high degree of attention to detail, initiative and accuracy in documentation is very important in this role. The employee must possess the ability to make decisions based on established policies, and function with minimal supervision and demonstrate adaptability and flexibility between types of responsibilities.

Accountabilities as a Shipping/Receiving Associate:

Collaborates with operations and logistics personnel in efforts to ensure proper materials are staged to meet production demands by:

  • Schedules all daily and weekly delivery/receipt schedules and changes; able to adapt to changing priorities

  • Updates and maintains incoming documentation in a disciplined manner ensuring accuracy and currency

  • Effectively and accurately receiving and unloading rolls

  • Inventories shipments as required; maintains storage and staging areas, including dock preparation

  • Properly staging completed orders in the warehouse in a manner to assure easy retrieval for shipment and proper spacing according to established procedures; may move completed pallets from production area(s) to warehouse for processing.

  • Properly enters order information and completes shipping documentation as required to properly account for goods moving in/out of the facility

  • Properly prepares load plans to ensure loads fit on trailers; loads trailers/trucks in a safe manner and within legal limits

  • Coordinates with customer service, scheduling, and transportation to generate superior customer service

  • Works with leadership team to prioritize deliveries

  • Ability to recognize errors and problems with delivered materials; escalates unresolved issues with a focus to ensure inventory accuracy and receipt of goods as appropriate

Accountabilities as a Machine Helper - Wrapper/Bander:

  • Confirms skids to order and prepares skids for delivery and/or storage in compliance with quality and customer specifications; stages skids for use

  • Stages completed orders in the warehouse according to job number and customer, in a manner to assure easy retrieval for shipment and proper spacing according to established procedures.

  • Properly wraps and bands skids with the proper operation and use of approved tools such as pliers and pallet jacks; is responsible for plier set-up

  • Properly disposes of waste and maintains a clean work area

  • Flows to the work and assists other wrapper/banders as necessary

  • Works with leadership team to prioritize deliveries

  • Ability to recognize errors and problems with delivered materials; actively troubleshoots top problems and escalate unresolved issues with a focus to ensure inventory accuracy and receipt of goods

Accountabilities as a Machine Helper - Roll Tender:

  • Confirming rolls to order and preparing rolls for use, including the preparation of leftover rolls to return to inventory and storage

  • Load rolls into roll stand; splice rolls as needed

  • Core splitter operation

  • Properly disposes of waste and maintains a clean work area

  • Operate equipment safely

  • Works with leadership team to prioritize deliveries

  • Ability to recognize errors and problems with delivered materials; actively troubleshoots top problems and escalate unresolved issues with a focus to ensure inventory accuracy and receipt of goods

Required education and related experience:

  • High school diploma

  • 2 years of verifiable work experience required

  • Factory experience strongly preferred

  • Experience driving a fork truck required, clamp truck experience strongly preferred

Skills and Abilities (technical/professional skills, expertise and qualifications):

  • Possess good communication skills

  • Ability to perform and understand basic mathematical calculations

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure

Illustrative Essential Functions:

  • Ability to push, pull or lift up to 60 pounds

  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, lift, and move arms and hands freely

  • Ability to stand for most of an 8-hour shift

  • Overtime may be required to meet business demand - this may include working extended shifts and/or weekend work

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can get rather loud at times. Temperature levels are usually moderate but can get rather warm in the summer months. Hearing protection, eye protection and steel toe safety shoes are required when in the plant. All employees are expected to keep their work areas clean, operate equipment safely and maintain accurate supply levels for their position.
