The Department of Agriculture is seeking a temporary, part-time Livestock Worker 1 to assist veterinarians in handling horses, recording data, and monitoring Lasix medication at Pocono Down Racetrack! DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Livestock Worker 1, you will be responsible for monitoring and recording the administration of Lasix to horses by veterinarians, performing upkeep duties in the detention barn, and assisting in any other necessary farm activities. Additionally, you may be responsible for collecting urine from assigned horses, assist in taking blood samples for testing purposes, and split and wrap these samples according to established guidelines. Horses will remain under your observation for the duration specified by the veterinarian.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Temporary, part-time employment Work hours are typically 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday, and 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Sundays, with a 30-minute lunch. Work schedule is vendor controlled and may change as determined by the racing schedule Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Experience in general farm work; and such training as may have been gained through completion of the eighth school grade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
