Here at XPO, we’re looking for a full-time, Maternity Cover contract, Assistant Transport Manager to join us on 5 from 7 shift pattern for our Tesco contract based in Widnes.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective running of our transport function.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £33,736 per annum. In addition, we offer 28 days holiday (Inc Bank H, as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, as well as a cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension, and many other perks.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Support the Transport Manager and Operations Manager with various ER tasks that are required, including investigations, disciplinaries, grievances etc.

  • Ensure that the weekly fleet maintenance and damage costings are submitted within required submission times.

  • Oversee and support with Operator Licence compliance for the site.

  • Manage Tachomaster and Trailermaster compliance, ensuring systems are accurate and up to date.

  • Manage compliance administrators, ensuring key tasks are a completed to the right standard, and when required.

  • Ensure vehicle incidents and personal injuries are investigated to the correct standard and correct procedures are followed and systems updated

  • Monitor driver performance and compliance, Including Tachomaster reporting and Driver scoring

  • oversee operational process compliance on site, including servicing and MOT booking compliance

  • support the site safety agenda, including Road2Zero objectives and roadmap actions.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

  • A track record at a supervisory or management level within a complex, fast-paced transport operation

  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills.

  • A strong personality with the ability to effectively manage drivers, push for operational excellence and challenge the status quo.
