Title I Family Engagement Educator
Job Description
Purpose: The Title I Family Engagement Educator creates a positive learning
environment to facilitate the personal, social and intellectual
development of all students. In order to respond to the individual
needs and abilities of students, the Title I Family Engagement
Educator must work closely with the staff and administration of
Derby Public Schools.
Responsible to: Principal and Assistant Superintendent/Curriculum and Instruction
Salary: Instructional Support Hourly Rate Schedule, Level 3
Classification of Employment: Non-Exempt
Date: July 2019
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
3. Bilingual skills is preferred.
Essential Functions:
1. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
a. Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual
needs of students.
b. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district, special
education cooperative and community.
c. Work effectively with community organizations.
d. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
e. Support the value of an education.
f. Support the philosophy and mission of the school district.
g. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations.
2. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
a. Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
b. Occasionally requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push
heavy objects or materials.
c. Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend and reach.
d. Requires the ability to occasionally travel.
e. Must be able work in noisy and crowded environments.
f. Must be able to lift 25 pounds repeatedly.
g. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
General Responsibilities:
1. Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.
2. Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for individual
differences.
3. Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
4. Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.
5. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators and others concerning the needs
of students and special services that are available.
6. Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and
services.
7. Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families.
8. Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies.
9. Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.
10. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
11. See that school district policies are observed during all activities.
12. Obtain advance approval for all special activities and expenditures.
13. Adhere to all district and cooperative health and safety policies.
14. Other duties as assigned by the building principal and Assistant
Superintendent/Curriculum and Instruction, which are consistent with the general
requirements and qualifications for the position.
