Duties for this position include providing interpretation services for our Afghan refugees who speak a variety of dialects. This position also provides assistance and service coordination between eligibility specialists, employment service career navigators for all 3 Employment Services programs (TANF, 2GEN/Resettlement/Repitriation Program, E&T), local refugee agencies, and employers in the community. This position also assists in implementing Employer Development activities that are region specific in order to meet the performance outcomes for the TANF Work Program. Provides interpretation support to assist employment services maintaining open communication with employers, schools, community partners and the refugee population. Support Economic and Employment Services by explaining rights and responsibilities, reporting changes/updates, explaining benefit determination, program policies/agency procedures, and aiding with communication during interview progress for applications and reviews. Assist Human Services Assistants to determine the reason for customer visit and identified appropriate tracker as applicable. Assist PPS and other programs in the region with interpretation services as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:Two years of experience interviewing, investigating, compiling information, documenting decisions, interpreting guidelines and/or providing technical assistance relevant to the agency\'s programs. Post secondary education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Qualifications:Bilingual experience. Preferred languages Pashto, Dari, Pashai, Urdo, Swahili, Arabic

  • Security Clearance: A background check (KBI - criminal background, welfare fraud, driver\'s license and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) as a condition of employment, which may include fingerprinting and FBI check. Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment with DCF. Must maintain security clearance throughout employment.
