Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

JOB SUMMARY
The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher works with young children and their families with developmental disabilities in classroom settings. This individual must have a genuine interest in working with children and their families.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES):
Develops and implements effective treatment plans in coordination with other team members.
Develops individual plans with the family.
Works with the transdisciplinary team to achieve the educational and developmental goals of the child.
Maintains records as required.
Conducts developmental assessments.
Completes required task in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
[]{#_Hlk169091596}Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds in person.
Ability to determine and identify items and children in the periphery, near, and far visual fields.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree in Education required.
Certification in ECH, ECD, ECSE or ECU required.
Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred.
SKILLS:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
Works effectively in a team environment.
Ability to work effectively with parents, children, public, and other professionals.
Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
WORK PACE: Self-paced, requiring the ability to think and act quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates homes, and community settings as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May require frequent extended work days.
Sitting: 6 - 7 hours in an 8 hour work shift; may occasionally alternate to standing or walking.
Standing: 1 - 2 hours in an 8 hour work shift. Alternates to sitting on a frequent basis
Walking: 1/2 - 1 hour in an 8 hour work shift.
