Actalent Civil/Environmental Engineer in Wichita, Kansas

Job Title: Civil/Environmental Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for an engineer for our Wichita, Kansas office who wants to grow in a fast-paced, team-first environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about environmental consulting and making a positive impact on the environment. Project responsibilities will primarily focus on civil/environmental services, including landfills and landfill infrastructure, composting, and other projects requiring design, engineering, permitting, construction, and operations support. The role involves both office and field work, including data recording, field observations, sample collection, and quality assurance. Travel is expected to be around 20%, with most initial efforts in the Wichita area and occasional overnight trips to other areas of Kansas and Oklahoma.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field

  • Data recording during field work (soil characteristics, lithology, groundwater, surface water, photographs, visual observations)

  • Field work in varied terrain and weather (surveys, data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections)

  • Preparation of environmental assessment/monitoring reports (data tabulation, charts, graphs, sketches, figures)

  • Sample collection from hazardous and non-hazardous sites (soil, air, surface water, groundwater, landfill gas)

  • Overseeing drilling activities (monitoring, well installation, borehole logging, well development, sampling)

  • Construction quality assurance observations

  • Quality control reviews on work products (reports, design plans, calculations, data)

  • Coordination with contractors, subcontractors, and clients

  • Coordination with CAD drafters or using AutoCAD for design plans/figures

  • Preparation of various reports (Phase I, environmental site assessment, emission, groundwater, compliance)

  • Preparation of permit applications and regulatory agency submittals

  • Preparation of calculations for reports and design documents

  • Training Environmental Field Technicians and Technical Associates

  • Preparation of site-specific health and safety plans

  • Participation in health and safety training

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Wichita, Kansas.

Work Environment

The role involves a combination of office work (report writing, coordination with design teams) and field work (site investigations, sampling, testing, quality assurance, monitoring, reporting, documentation, and field coordination).
