Job Description

We are seeking a talented and passionate Art Teacher to join our creative team. The Art Teacher will inspire students to explore their artistic abilities, develop their creativity, and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the visual arts. This position offers an exciting opportunity to share your passion for art with students while fostering their artistic skills and self-expression in a supportive and dynamic learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate art lessons for students, incorporating a variety of mediums, techniques, and art forms, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and digital art.
  • Provide instruction in foundational art principles and techniques, including composition, color theory, perspective, and shading, while encouraging students to experiment, take risks, and express their individual artistic style.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported, valued, and inspired to explore their creativity and develop their artistic talents.
  • Guide students through the creative process, from brainstorming and planning to executing and reflecting on their artwork, encouraging them to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-evaluation skills.
  • Integrate art history and cultural studies into lessons to deepen students\' understanding of artistic traditions, movements, and influential artists, and inspire them to draw connections between art and society.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary connections and promote the integration of art across the curriculum.
  • Prepare and organize art materials, supplies, and resources, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for artistic exploration.
  • Showcase student artwork through exhibitions, displays, and presentations, celebrating their achievements and fostering a sense of pride and community within the school.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, upcoming projects, and opportunities for involvement in their child\'s artistic education.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in art education, curriculum development, and instructional techniques.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Studio Art, or related field (Required).
  • Teaching certification/license in Art Education (Preferred).
  • Prior experience teaching art to students of varying ages and skill levels preferred.
  • Strong artistic skills and knowledge across a variety of mediums and techniques.
  • Passion for art education and a commitment to fostering creativity, self-expression, and artistic growth in students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students in the visual arts.
  • Creativity and innovation in lesson planning and instructional delivery.
  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages artistic risk-taking and experimentation.
  • Dedication to ongoing professional growth and development in the field of art education.
