Whether in a direct-care or support role, your contribution will make a difference in the life of a Texan.The Physician II provides medical care of the patients across the lifespan (children to geriatrics) at NTSH. The Physician II works under the clinical supervision of the Physician III and the administrative supervision of the General Medical Services (GMS) Program Supervisor V. The Physician II supervises, mentors and works in collaboration with Advanced Practice Registered Nurses assigned to GMS. The Physician II needs to have strong medical knowledge and can base decisions using data, evidence based research, and conduct business within their scope of practice while abiding by agency policies and procedures. The Physician II will be responsible for monitoring and reporting GMS activities to the Physician III at their request. The Physician II has no financial responsibility, but is accountable for assigned property. The Physician II will also see employees that have been injured while on duty. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. The Physician II will assure that accurate and thorough assessments/examinations/follow-ups are completed on NTSH patients including, but not limited to: History and Physicals on admission and annually; sick call referrals; follow ups from outside medical appointments or hospitalizations; infirmary patients; lab monitoring. Documentation of work will be accurate and thorough with justification and rationale of treatment noted. All tasks will follow NTSH/HHSC requirements and fall in line with Joint Commission, CMS, and Medical Staff Bylaws. Prescribes and manages the use of medications and follows Medical Bylaws. Physician II will act as a consultant for other practitioners especially Advanced Practice Registered Nurses assigned to GMS. Physician II will consult with the Physician III for guidance on difficult cases. Physician II will complete all required agency trainings and documentation within the agency timeframes. Maintains confidentiality and complies with the ethical standards of the organization and of their discipline. Complies with all NTSH policies and procedures to ensure safety of patients and staff. Physician II will evaluate patient and staff injuries as they occur during normal business hours. Physician II will work harmoniously with other employees to generate a productive, cohesive, and culturally diverse work environment. Will refrain from discussions that create negativity or hostility. Will create and maintain a positive rapport with and towards patients served. Helps to identify goals and provides/helps to establish resources for patients served.
