Position: Arborist I

Primary Responsibilities
: (guest interaction, ordering responsibilities, clean up duties, clerical responsibilities, etc.)
Diagnose and treat tree problems mechanically or chemically for disease, pests, or other issues.
Ability to climb and perform work in trees that are over 100' tall
Ability to Operate Bucket Truck.
Ability to Fertilize and Prune Trees.
Chainsaw use and proper care of equipment.
Be able to obtain or have a CDL license with in 60 days of employment and must maintain it during employment.
Be able to obtain or have a WV Commercial Pesticide Applicator license within 30 days of employment and must maintain it during employment.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Ability to assist in delegating and educating other employees on the job.
Knowledgeable in deep root fertilization of trees (calibration, application, etc).
Will be required to do other grounds department work as needed.
Normal Working Hours:
(Shift, days)
7:00 am - 3:00 pm

Past Work Experience Requirements:
(Type of work, number of years required, equivalent experience, etc.)
5+ years experience trimming trees as well as removing and falling trees.
Experience with stump grinders, crane work, bucket operations, and climbing
Educational Requirements:
(Degree/Certification, highest required/preferred, field of study)
High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
Communication Skills Requirements:
(Verbal: phone, in-person, group; Written: memos, documents)
Must be able to understand and follow detailed directions from supervisor
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and guests
Must be able to fill out paperwork and logbooks including logbooks on computers
Technical Requirements:
Knowledgeable about proper arborist techniques involving pruning (including ornamentals,) ropes, chain saws, cabling, guiding and tree identification.
