NY Employer Security Officer, Night Shift, Full-time in White Plains, New York
WORK PERFORMED: Duties and Responsibilities:
- Life-related:
A. Tours buildings and grounds (by foot and in patrol vehicle) to: 1. Examine doors, windows, gates to determine that they are secure and not tampered with. 2. Detect unauthorized persons or vehicles (confronts unauthorized persons for questioning and routes or detains them). 3. Locate missing patients and escort them back to proper place. 4. Check exterior and interior lighting and access routes to emergency entrances and reports malfunctions to security office. B. Protects the safety of employees, patients and visitors in crisis situations (i.e., fire drills, disasters). C. Monitors all alarms systems, fire annunciator and CCTV system. D. Sounds fire signal to alert fire department and hospital personnel in event of fire. E. Intervenes in potentially dangerous situations to alleviate fears and possible confrontations. F. Checks bags and possessions of all who periodically leave or enter the Hospital.
- Property-related:
A. Investigates and reports lost, stolen or missing property on Security Officer's Incident Report. B. Detects and reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing, or electrical systems on Security Officer's Incident Report, and/or work order. C. Determines and reports on Security Department Inspection form all unsafe conditions and acts on the grounds or inside the Hospital. D. Performs security functions on grounds for all Burke-related and privately organized functions.
- Other security-related duties:
A. Monitors and directs all traffic control on the Hospital's premises. B. Checks parked vehicles for proper parking areas and places appropriate warning notices on those vehicles parked in restricted areas. C. Performs local transportation services (i.e., blood-runs, mailruns, physician appointments for patients). D. Performs transportation services (i.e. New York Hospital morning run). E. Gasses all Hospital vehicles. Cleans security vehicle inside and out. F. Relieves switchboard operator when necessary. G. Reports abandoned and/or stolen cars to Security Office. H. Maintains "key" control for staff and students. I. Safeguards Hospital's cash and checks after business hours on holidays and weekends until the next business day. J. Answers routine questions from visitors. K. Inspects safety devices, fire extinguishers and tests alarm systems as required. L. Performs any and all duties requested by supervisor. M. Practices Universal Precautions. N. Demonstrates the ability to communicate with pediatric, adolescent, young adult and geriatric patients and visitors. O. Must be available for emergency overtime when necessary. P. Demonstrates personal adherence to the corporate compliance program and related activities. Q. Other duties as assigned.
