Robert Half Cost Accountant in White Bear Township, Minnesota

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant in the construction industry. The position is based in White Bear Township, Minnesota, 55127, United States. As a Cost Accountant, you will be tasked with analyzing and maintaining costs, overseeing inventory, and developing strategies to improve the profitability of products.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and document the cost of material, labor, fixed overhead, and variable overhead.

• Develop and implement strategies to reduce variances in material and labor costs.

• Monitor changes in the profitability of products, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

• Oversee the implementation of costs on new part numbers and execute procedures for updating costs across the company.

• Review inventory for obsolete parts and ensure accurate reserve amounts.

• Coordinate with the production team regarding scrap amounts and proper disposal/return to vendor policies.

• Supervise and monitor the cycle count program to ensure inventory quantity accuracy.

• Prepare for external audits by analyzing costs through various price tests and developing schedules as required.

• Participate in system changes and enhancements in the changing EDP environment.

• Develop and analyze estimated costs for future planning, including costs differences between “make vs. buy” parts.

• Develop policies and procedures for new or improved methods of running the cost accounting department. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Cost Accounting role within the Construction/Contractor industry

• Proficiency in General Ledger operations

• Experience in Cost Accounting is mandatory

• Knowledge of Manufacturing Cost Accounting is desirable

• Familiarity with Standard Cost Accounting

• Ability to effectively prepare and maintain Journal Entries

• Proficiency in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation

• Must possess skills in Bank Reconciliations

• Experience in Financial Analysis is a must

• Ability to Analyze Financial Statements

• Experience in Monthly Financial Reporting

• Skills in Budgeting and Forecasting

• Proficiency in Budgeting

• Ability to Analyze Variance

• Experience in Cost Variance is a plus.
