POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Distribution EHS Coordinator to support our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs at our distribution center. This role will report to the Distribution Safety Manager and is ideal for a recent college graduate with the appropriate training and experience. The Distribution Safety Coordinator will assist in developing, implementing, and managing safety programs to ensure a safe working environment and regulatory compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Safety Management:
Work with the Distribution EHS Manager and other team members to develop, implement, and manage programs that improve the safety of all employees and ensure regulatory compliance.
Act as a liaison with Local, State, and Federal Regulatory Agencies on matters relating to safety and environmental regulatory compliance.
Advise the Distribution EHS Manager on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
Implement training for employees on worksite safety practices.
Maintain safety files and records.
Perform safety surveys and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
2. Incident Management:
Conduct post-accident investigations and prepare reports identifying possible root causes and hazards.
Respond to and manage incidents that occur throughout the facility.
Report incidents in a safety management system.
3. Champion Safety:
Promote a safe, incident-free workplace.
Lead and educate employees by conducting safety training and leading Safety Committee meetings.
Perform weekly, monthly, and yearly inspections, including ladder inspections, life safety systems, equipment inspections, eye wash stations, hazardous waste areas, and fall protection.
4. Compliance and Record Keeping:
Stay up to date with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Maintain and update records on OSHA 300 Log, Worker’s Compensation Logs, and required safety/compliance training.
Manage records of safety files, reports, and documentation.
5. Continuous Improvement:
Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Conduct Job Hazard Analysis to mitigate future accidents.
Assess potential health hazards and damage.
Evaluate and review safety programs for effectiveness and relevance.
Support site leadership on EHS-related issues.
6. Program Coordination:
Oversee workers' compensation, safety audits, and emergency preparedness programs.
Partner with shift managers and supervisors to address hazards, behaviors, and safety concerns.
Conduct and lead Safety Committee meetings.
7. Additional Responsibilities:
Assist the Operations Team in ensuring compliance with Powered Industrial Truck standards, including evaluations, recordkeeping management, and investigating machinery incidents to determine root causes.
Participate in the new hire orientation and onboarding process to increase safety awareness for new employees.
Address and manage safety complaints that are reported.
Conduct root cause analysis in workplace accident and machinery investigations.
Conduct multiple monthly audits that cover life safety systems, hazard identification, and behavior analysis.
Conduct weekly inspections of hazardous waste storage areas and partner with 3rd party contractors for proper disposal.
Administer and input data into an equipment/fleet management system.
Coordinate and manage hazardous spill containment and response.
Conduct industrial hygiene studies and readings to determine hazardous exposure to employees.
Perform PPE assessments for different job tasks within the facility.
Review, evaluate, and develop emergency response procedures for the facility.
Coordinate training for Emergency Response Personnel.
ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA regulations, and other relevant safety standards.
Preferred Certificate(s) or License(s): OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, or other safety-related certifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
Frequent:
Work with the Warehouse EHS Manager to develop and manage safety programs.
Conduct safety training and lead Safety Committee meetings.

Infrequent:

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT :
Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
