Intermountain Health Certified Polysomnographic Technologist in Wheat Ridge, Colorado

Job Description:

The RST/RPSGT/RRT is accountable for performing and coordinating and scoring physiologic studies of sleep and sleep-related disorders. The incumbent provides care to patients via technology, therapeutic interventions, and coordination of care with other health care professionals.

Scope

As a Polysomnographic Tech you need to know how to:

  • Demonstrates ability to operate equipment and perform all sleep lab procedures.

  • Performs patient hook-up and machine calibrations according to department policy.

  • Follows department procedures to ensure the most accurate data collection.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to comprehend Polysomnographic acquisitions, initiate treatment, and follow decision trees based on findings.

  • Routinely scored one of two studies acquired to include report preparation for physician analysis and recommendations.

  • Records routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of Polysomnographic results.

  • Routinely performs 12-week follow-up phone calls (2 to 4/night per tech) per AASM requirements.

  • Complies with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.

  • Participates in equipment care and maintenance. Identifies and reports any abnormalities.

  • Conducts patient educations and adjusts teaching techniques according to patient needs.

  • Participates in the inter-scorer reliability program (ISR) and meets scoring QA criteria within 85% agreement with the Gold Standard.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RpsgT) with 2 years experience in sleep diagnostics OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2 years experience in sleep diagnostics OR Registered EEG Technician with 2 years experience in sleep diagnostics, required.

  • Basic MS Office and Windows skills, required.

Prior experience with Sleep/Works computerized acquisition system, preferred

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$25.58 - $39.49
