Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. Senior Budget and Forecasting Analyst (Capital) in Westminster, Colorado

Job Description:

Responsible for the Capital Forecasts and Annual Capital Budget and related variance analysis and reporting. Includes preparing the Annual Capital Budget and overseeing the update of the forecasts and performing variance analyses at various levels to assess whether capital projects appear to be on target and discuss apparent deviations with personnel responsible for budget entry.

Senior Budget and Forecasting Analyst (Capital)

Hiring Salary Range: $110,000-120,000

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Responsibilities:

  • Balancing of the imports into and out of Oracle EPM capital application.

  • Prepare the Annual Capital Budget and oversee the update of the forecasts.

  • Support of all users in EPM with SmartView and Workspace.

  • Perform variance analyses at various levels to assess whether capital projects appear to be on target and discuss any apparent deviations with personnel responsible for budget entry. Ensure data validity, accuracy and reasonableness.

  • Create and manage capital reports monthly.

  • Calculation of book closings and depreciation for O&M budget including validation with accounting manager quarterly

  • Develop and prepare presentations and reports for senior management and members of the Board of Directors as needed.

  • Backup duties for other analysts on team.

  • Participate in ad hoc analytical requests and special projects as assigned.

  • Because Tri-State is an electric utility with continuous service obligations to its customers, regular, reliable, and predictable performance of the essential functions and responsibilities is an essential function of the job.

  • Because Tri-State has an obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to its customers, the ability to work overtime at any time of the day or week is considered an essential function of the job.

Qualifications:

Education and Training:

  • BS/BA Accounting, Finance, Economics or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Extensive working knowledge of computers, computerized accounting systems, forecasting tools, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other software.

  • General knowledge of the operation of electric and cooperative utilities.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to effectively organize and manage meetings.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to perform detail work with a high degree of accuracy in a timely manner.

  • Must be very well organized and able to manage time effectively in a deadline driven environment.

  • Working knowledge of automated budgeting and forecasting systems and ability to assist in their development.

Other:

  • Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform all the essential functions of the position.

  • Willingness to work overtime as required.

  • Willingness to travel as required.

DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Oracle EPM products desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of electric and cooperative utilities operations.

  • Knowledge of electric utility accounting.

  • Knowledge of plant and construction accounting.
