This position is responsible for: 1. Responds to request for release of protected health information (PHI) information to other hospitals, mental health agencies/professionals, schools, attorneys, parents, and former patients in a timely manner in compliance with state laws and MDHHS/Hospital policies; 2. Analysis of the medical record at discharge to assure timely completion and accuracy to comply with MDHHS and external accrediting agency requirements; 3. Assist in concurrently reviewing medical records for timely completion and accuracy in accordance with MDHHS/Hospital policies and external accrediting licensing agencies requirements, 4. Participating in surveys from outside agencies; 5. Other medical record tasks, including scanning documents into the EMR, printing documents from EMR and preparing letters as needed.

Possession of an associate's degree in health information or medical record technology.

One year of experience equivalent to a Medical Record Examiner 8.

Two years of experience equivalent to a Medical Record Examiner, including one year equivalent to a Medical Record Examiner 9.
Additional Requirements and Information
Certification by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator.
The Department of Corrections will not hire individuals who have been convicted of a felony or who have felony charges pending, in accordance with Public Act 140 of 1996.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
