Trainman/Conductor Job description Local railroad company currently seeking a Conductor to join our team. Full time, direct hire opportunity! The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of trains, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical knowledge, and air brake systems. As a Conductor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our operations while providing exceptional service to our customers. Responsibilities Operate trains safely and efficiently, adhering to all operational protocols and safety regulations. Conduct pre-trip inspections of trains and equipment to ensure proper functioning. Communicate effectively with crew members and dispatchers regarding train movements and any issues that arise. Monitor train speed, signals, and track conditions during transit. Manage loading and unloading operations at various stops, ensuring cargo is handled safely. Maintain accurate records of train operations, including schedules, delays, and incidents. Respond promptly to emergencies or unexpected situations, implementing safety measures as necessary. Experience Previous experience in a conductor or similar role is preferred but not required. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively. Experience operating heavy equipment is highly desirable. Familiarity with air brake systems is a plus. A military background may be beneficial due to the emphasis on discipline and adherence to protocols.
