What you’ll do
The Global Service Readiness Automation Engineer (GSRAE) will be responsible for providing expert remote automation support for global Cytiva customers. The successful engineer will take defect descriptions provided by the customer or the first level technical support team and triage for hardware and software issues.
The Automation Engineer will be responsible to remotely troubleshoot all automation issues (wherever applicable provide workaround within agreed SLAs) and, where applicable, provide resolutions for and with our clients while following proper escalation channels as needed. Will also be responsible for the technical content within the technical knowledge base by creating original material as well as review of other’s technical content for accuracy and conciseness and supporting cross-functional teams (Automation & Digital + Global Service Engineering) in automation related tasks. The GSRAE will be ultimately be responsible for meeting the service needs of customers and driving a high customer satisfaction through Service Excellence.
Support to define procedures for field modifications, calibrations, and part replacements
Support creating and implementing the Service strategy for automation projects, both internally and with external customers, including FlexFactory/KUBio and related products.
Support development of product and subsystem requirements related to serviceability and diagnosis.
Support Automation and Digital team in enhancing customer support related tasks (product care, NPI, lifecycle). Advanced, Automation troubleshooting at the system-level.
Ensure regular interface with key stakeholders (internal and external) on assigned cases. Acts to ensure satisfaction to primary customers to ensure full resolution and proper follow-up proving root course analysis, cause and effect diagram and CAPA as required.
Working as a member of global teams to provide efficient and cost-effective support to field and customers
Contribute to a Service knowledge base creation and actively update and maintain overall Automation knowledge management content
Work closely with Automation & Digital (A&D) team to understand new products under development and acquire the necessary knowledge/information from A&D. Disseminate this information to field-based automation engineers by use of aniPart, online and face-to-face training as required.
Develop, train, teach and assist other automation Engineers on advanced/complex troubleshooting and technical fixes within Automation software and hardware.
Who you are
Proven experience in leading FlexFactory and KUBio projects to be key service expert for Automation platforms including automation platforms from Rockwell, WonderWare and DeltaV by providing project level consultancy and client services around project automation infrastructure design, installation, commissioning, project closure and inspections/reporting. Ensures regular reporting of testing progress.
Solid understanding and trouble shooting skills of automation communication networks including Profibus, Ethernet and EthernetIP. Ability to use and interpret results of tools designed to troubleshoot networks such as ProfiTrace and Ethernet testers.
Expertise on supporting Automation system development / programming / configuration, FAT, SAT, commissioning, installation, Validation/IQOQ, warranty and post-warranty service.
Ability to write computer software and programs as necessary and able to read and interpret technical documentation (P&IDs, schematics, loop sheets, manuals, etc.)
Solid understanding of computer and telecommunication networks and excellent trouble-shooting skills in those environments.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with good knowledge of tools and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, and resolving technical problems.
Experience in working with global and cross-functional teams to develop Automation training, documentation, procedures, manuals, etc.
Familiarity with Rockwell PLC programming, Siemens PLC programming
Familiarity with IT Networking, DCOM Networking and OPC experience
Experience with DCS and SCADA control systems
Demonstrated experience in operation and network design of Emerson DeltaV Process Automation Systems, WonderWare and PlantPax platforms.

Ensure completion of all field modifications instructions (FMI’s) within prescribed timeframe.
Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible.
Understanding of legal and regulatory aspects within biopharmaceutical business Manage 3rd party vendors service delivery processes in compliance with Danaher policies.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or related technological field
Five plus (5+) years of relevant eperience in automation systems, automation electrical design, or related field, with at least 3 years of recent automation experience.
Willing to work with extended global assignments and available for irregular working hours while in project go-live phase.
Willingness to be available for “on-call” duty
Experience with one or more of the following platforms: Wonderware ArchestrA, Emerson DeltaV, Allen-Bradley SLC/PLC, Panel View, RSView32, Intellution/iFix, Siemens PLC Step 7, WinCC control system, PlantPax, Rockwell RSLogix 5000 software or equivalent.
Exposure to ladder-based languages such as Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Siemens and automation system platforms including DCS, PLC, HMI, SCADA and other applicable systems.
Experience authoring/reviewing standard operating procedures / on-the-job-trainings / other controlled documents & demonstrated ability to service industrial automation electrical hardware systems following industry standards (NFPA, CE Marking)
Good knowledge and skills in engineering of Automation for Servo and Motion control / Process Utility / Monitoring Building Management Systems including system design / Bioreactors/ Centrifuge/ TFF/ Chromatography.
Advance IT skills, server configuration, switch and software configuration.
Experience configuring DeltaV control systems, working with FOUNDATION fieldbus and other "bus" technologies (e.g. Profibus, DeviceNet, AS-I Bus,EthernerIP).
Experience with operating systems (Windows Server 2008/2012/2016), AutoCAD, Visio, and MS office Suite.
Understanding and experience in set up of OPC server and its maintenance, work with SQL queries and interacting with SQL databases/networking
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to handle/resolve difficult technical issues.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, excellent computer skills and networking ability.
Strong customer-service skills, Highly motivated team-player, prior project or technical leadership experience.
Demonstrated ability to train/mentor peers, ability to stay calm in pressurized situations and coach people through solving problems, strong written and verbal communications skills that can effectively communicate with a diverse workforce.
Ability to effectively communicate over the phone and other AR/VR digital remote tools.
Ability to drive improvements in efficiency, knowledge/experience with the healthcare Biopharma industry.
