Housekeeping Aide

STARTING RATE: $15.30/hr. ($15.30 - $17.69/hr., dependent upon experience)

Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Housekeeping Aide is responsible for cleaning resident rooms and other interior and exterior facility areas and assisting in maintaining a clean and attractive environment for the residents according to facility policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Reports to work as scheduled. Attends all mandatory in-services by employee’s anniversary date

· Complies with all facility policies and procedures

· Acts appropriately under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor and acts as a part of the interdisciplinary team

· Clean and straighten (including vacuuming, wiping, moping, polishing, etc.) rooms, offices, and common areas; polish and remove items; ensure resident’s rooms are safe, comfortable, and maintained in an attractive manner

· Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in shift assignments to meet facility needs.

· Cleans and sanitizes areas of responsibility according to facility policy and procedure

· Moves and arranges residents’ furniture and equipment as directed by the supervisor

· Cleans residents dining areas at the completion of meal service and adheres to weekly cleaning schedule of the dining area

· Cleans and sanitizes resident bathrooms and common bath areas

· Cleans and maintains windows and walls in resident rooms and common areas

· Complies with weekly departmental cleaning schedule

· D aily responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing rooms or other assigned areas, changing linens, changing glassware and removing debris. Specific duties include dusting and polishing, cleaning all furniture and accessories, washing windows and mirrors, removing any stains or marks and emptying all trash. Housekeeping aides clean and sanitize bathing spaces, sinks and toilets; vacuuming, sweeping and mopping are also included in their duties. They check for damages to company property and submit reports to appropriate supervisors.

· Daily duties also include maintaining supply carts with adequate supplies. To ensure all daily duties and assignments are met, housekeeping aides communicate throughout the day with supervisors and other staff members.

· Housekeeping aides are also responsible for responding to the needs of guests in a prompt and courteous manner while maintaining guest satisfaction. At times, guests may request additional items in their room, laundry services, shoe shines, extra roll-away beds or cribs. They also answer inquiries of guests regarding various matters, such as accommodation features or local attractions.

· Adheres to all cleaning chemical hazards as indicated on supplies

· Observes rules of sanitation at all times

· Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program when performing work functions

· Is aware of, and adheres to, Resident’s Bill of Rights and Confidentiality of Resident Information

· Interacts with residents and family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgmental, supportive, and calm manner

· Addresses family satisfaction issues immediately by reporting them to the supervisor in a professional manner

· Is aware of Resident Abuse Reporting Law

· Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a positive, helpful, and enthusiastic attitude

· Demonstrates ability to locate emergency equipment (i.e. fire extinguisher)

· Demonstrates ability to identify and respond appropriately to potential behavioral outbursts

· Uses facility equipment safely

· Recognizes, removes, and/or reports potential hazards

· Follows established safety rules/accident prevention

· Observes rules of safety at all times including complying with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) guidelines for chemical use

· Demonstrates ability to identify and respond appropriately to potential behavioral outbursts

· Uses facility equipment safely

· Recognizes, removes, and/or reports potential hazards

· Follows established safety rules/accident prevention

· Observes rules of safety at all times, and is alert to safety hazards to self and co-workers including complying with Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) guidelines for chemical use

· Demonstrates proper hand washing techniques

· Disposes of waste properly

· Complies with departmental dress code

· Addresses residents in a respectful manner

· Discusses confidential resident information in appropriate areas only

· Other Duties as Assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor
